when i am afraid...

Walking hand in hand our small bodies and blond heads journeyed across the dark street. After a long day of playing, it was time to say goodbye, and i was walking her home. But when we arrived on her porch we realized something, now i had to walk around the cars on her driveway, and across the dark street...all alone. So, she walked me home. And i walked her home. And she walked me home. Finally, after realizing the silliness of this method we decided to break in the middle and run as fast as we could to our doors. But even while we walked together we were terribly afraid. We jumped at every noise and cling tighter to each other. Then one night we remembered a song we learned in Mrs. Greene's choir. It's words and melody still ring in my head, "When i am afraid, i will trust in you, i will trust in you, i will trust in you. When i am afraid i will trust in you, in God whose word i praise..."
