skate
I remember holding her hand. After a while it got sweaty and I would wonder if I should let go or hold tight. We skated to the classics - Shine, Breakfast, Lord We Lift Your Name on High; all the ones associated with the monthly home school skate. She was one of the big kids, you know those teenagers, like my big brothers. They were so old and I was just a little kid tagging along with the boys. But one day, the boys weren't there. They went off to a place called college and I was left at home. I didn't attend the skate afternoon very often because, "who would I hang out with?" Today I returned. My feet are sore, my legs ache, and those memories of the good old days with Jonathan, Melissa, Jeremy, Sean, and all of you big kids (you know who you are :) returned to my head. It was such a different feeling. Now I'm the big kid. Little kids wobbling around and swinging their arms to keep their balance constantly swarmed through us as I talked with my friends. Now I'm the big teenager, holding her hand.
